  • Work with a large, varied client base and get in front of clients regularly
  • Ideally located | Join a great team in purpose built offices with amazing views
  • Great perks | Flexible working hours and half day Friday's during Summer months

An opportunity has become available for an accounting technician or BAS Accountant to join a highly regarded company and their excellent team in centrally located offices in Christchurch. Our client has established themselves in the market since going from strength to strength, largely due to the fantastic culture they have been able to build up over the years. This is a place that people have historically wanted to work for, with the culture being unsurpassed by other firms in the city.

The position comes with some really good additional perks, that are unheard of for many of Christchurch's accounting firms. There are regular team lunches, after work activities (including after work drinks and a fortnightly trivia night), as well as half day Friday's during the warmer summer months. Staff also get the benefit of flexible working hours so can organise to start early and finish early, or vice versa.

The firm have built up a varied client base. The ideal candidate will have a diverse client portfolio but this is not essential and the right candidate will be able to gain experience in sectors including manufacturing, construction, agricultural, retail and tourism.

The job tasks and responsibilities that the successful candidate will have to carry out are largely typical for an accountant at this level. You must be aware that due to the size of the firm the following aren't the only duties you will carry out on a day-to-day basis. No day will ever be the same and you will be chipping in where needed, working with other team members to get the work done.

A lot of work will be compliance based and you will prepare tax returns and annual statements. You will be involved with budgeting/forecasting. Due to the smaller sized nature of the firm you will be required to deal with some clients also. As a result and because you will be mentoring juniors at the company you must be comfortable with this.

Our client is looking for someone who has:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage your time effectively and multitask
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team
  • 2+ years experience
  • CA qualified (or nearing completion of this qualification)
  • Previous experience in a similar role (highly desired but not essential)
