This is a new position for the farm, which was converted 5 years ago. It would suit someone currently contract milking, or a new contract milker who is experienced with large herds.
Wangapeka Holdings is a 840 cow dairy unit 15 km from the township of Tapawera , in the high sunshine hours district of Tasman. It is a 45minute drive to Richmond, Nelson city.
We seek an experienced dairy farmer who will take the farm production to the next level, and realise the farms full potential. They will operate with complete honesty, while looking after our farm assets as if they were their own.

• Comprehensive knowledge of Health and safety laws and legal requirements
• Experience with irrigation
• Experience with Fodder Beet feeding
• Experience with Protrac or similar system
The contract milker will need to provide motorbikes , duster, and a farm ute for use to and from the run off . The farm has quality machinery available for all other work.

|The farm location is picturesque, with 260 hectare dairy platform, rolling hills which carry dry stock, and 4 km of river frontage. The Wangapeka River is famous for its trout fishing and beautiful swimming holes. There are wild deer, pigs, goats and native birds all over the farms hill blocks, with great walking and biking tracks through native bush.
30 Hectares of the dairy platform is planted with fodder beet as the only wintering crop. Another 20 hectares of fodder beet is planted on leased land 3 km away and is also used for winter stock.
Production is around 370000m/s p/a.
Supplements brought in are 200ton barley, 300ton PKE, 1200 round bails of Lucerne.
The dairy shed is a 54 bale rotary with ACR, Protrac, Automatic teat spray and in shed feeding of PKE, grain, barley, lime and magnesium pellets.
Irrigation is via 3 centre pivots irrigating 145 hectare , and 2 rota rainer and 1hard hosegun irrigating 65 hectares.
Irrigation season is usually from Nov –March. There is a very reliable water source, and a 100000 cubic metre water storage pond.
The 2 pond effluent system is modern and applied through the pivot irrigator.
The local school bus comes to the property.
SCC of the herd is consistently low averaging 80000- 100000. Blanket teat sealing and dry cow is carried out yearly.
